We read every message. Before you write, please check what we can and cannot help with, so you get an answer that is actually useful.
What we can help with
- Corrections to a figure, a street name or a ZIP code.
- Questions about how a number was calculated.
- Suggestions for new pages or features.
- Requests from journalists or researchers about our method.
- Reports of broken links or display problems.
- Questions about privacy or advertising on this site.
What we cannot do
- Give legal advice or tell you whether you have a case.
- Recommend or refer you to a specific lawyer.
- Provide copies of police reports (the NYPD issues those).
- Look up a particular crash, person or license plate.
- Change or remove official records — we only republish them.
- Deal with insurance claims or emergencies.
In an emergency, call 911. To request a copy of a crash report, contact the NYPD or the precinct where the crash happened. If you need a lawyer, our sister directory NY Attorney Records lists New York firms that handle personal injury work.
